DANCE SHOTS will be on a Tan Background. This will be vertical and not as wide as our normal “white” setup. So plan poses that are more vertical and less “middle splits on the floor”.
You may choose a form-fitting top -or- something large and flow-y so we can work with it as motion in the photo. Colors are great here as well, or a good neutral color. Please take the time to put together a captivating look. This will help us create a successful shoot with timeless photos.
HEADSHOTS - Choose a more form-fitting top as opposed to a looser fitting top. Shots will be from the waist up, but please consider the waistline of the pants you choose to wear. Choose an option that lays flat and does not bunch.
We are going to shoot natural light for all headshots again this year. Wear a bottom that you can sit and squat in, we will focus more on the upper body this year.
For headshots we recommend solid bold colors.
Avoid florals, or other heavy patterns. No white or any neon colors, they wash out the skin and blowout in photos.
No extra jewelry but small earrings are ok.
Come hair and makeup ready. Think light, fresh and natural make-up! Avoid heavy eye make-up, no stage makeup. When choosing a lip color, avoid shiny lip glosses since the hair will stick. Choose a matte/silky lipstick, this is more flattering for photos. For the younger dancers, a good natural lip is best.
Headshots and Dance-shots will be taken with time in between, allowing the dancer time to get ready for the next “look”.
RECREATIONAL
All Recreational dancers will be shot on bright white. We will take individual pictures + group shot.
Please arrive hair and makeup ready. Think light, fresh and natural make-up! Check hair before sending your student inside the photo room. Bring hair and makeup touchups in-case they are needed between leaving your house and the dance studio.
Avoid getting tights dirty before shoot, tuck all ballet bows inside your ballet shoes.
We love a good action shot, so practice a few action poses that fit your dancer the best.
We will get close ups as well.
All images are digitally sent to you to share and print as needed.

The owner of CEP, Cory Jones, has been a featured photographer for Go2Talent Agency, Clear Talent Group, and McDonald Selznick Associates. He started his days working as an assistant for celebrity photographer, Gilles Toucas, where he assisted jobs for Heidi Klum, Seal, James Blunt, Kate Hudson, Clive Owen, Zooey Deschanel, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Eva Mendez, Amy Adams, and the cast of Bold & Beautiful. Cory has photographed images for Paula Abdul’s Live To Dance. He also photographs dance studio’s recreational and competitive teams across the country capturing each dancer’s greatest potential.
